Data collection
- License verification (paid users): When you enter a license key, the extension sends the key, a device identifier, and the extension version to verify your subscription.
- Community rule updates: The extension downloads signed community bundles from Talon Defender servers (api.talondefender.com) to keep protection current. The request does not include personal identifiers.
- Website analytics and ad measurement: When configured, the Talon Defender website may use Google Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads conversion tracking, and Enhanced Conversions. Outside consent-required regions those website signals can run automatically, while stricter opt-in controls apply where required by law.
Website analytics and consent
The Talon Defender extension stays telemetry-free. The marketing website can use analytics and advertising tags to measure pricing views, checkout starts, installs, and purchases. Outside consent-required regions those website signals can run automatically, while stricter opt-in controls apply where required by law. They are intended for the website only and are not used to inspect page content inside the extension.
Local storage
Settings, allowlist entries, license status, and community bundle metadata are stored locally in the browser extension storage. Some license data may also be synced using Chrome sync storage if available on the device.
Data sharing
Talon Defender does not sell or share user data with advertisers or data brokers. Data sent for license verification is used only to validate subscriptions.
User controls
- You can remove your license key at any time from the Settings footer.
- You can allowlist specific sites to keep ads visible.
- You can disable or uninstall the extension at any time.
Security
All remote requests use HTTPS. Community rule bundles are verified with SHA-256 integrity checks and Ed25519 signatures before activation.
